At Just Plain Charming we are passionate about the impact on the planet and I'm excited to announce that we are now working with Ecologi to help offset carbon footprint through carbon offsetting through the planting of new trees. *Carbon offsetting is the act of compensating for emissions by funding an equivalent amount of carbon avoidance or removal.
Who are Ecologi?
Ecologi is the UK’s leading all in one climate platform. A certified B Corporation, founded in 2019, Ecologi enables businesses to calculate their carbon footprint and support high-quality climate action projects. To date, Ecologi’s community of over 20,000 businesses have collectively prevented 3 million tonnes of CO2e emissions from entering our atmosphere through supporting verified carbon avoidance projects, as well as funding the responsible planting of over 80 million trees globally.
How does it work?
The way we are achieving this at Just Plain Charming is that every order placed through the website will now plant a tree through Ecologi’s reforestation projects. This means with every purchase you’ll be directly contributing to a healthier planet!

In addition, other selected products in store will provide an even greater impact. For example, these elm and maple leaf studs where 5% of sales from them will go towards tree planting in the UK restoring native ecosystems across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Why Trees?
There are a number of reasons to choose tree planting. The primary reason is that they great natural solution to improving the climate because they reduce the carbon from the atmosphere by absorbing in and storing in their biomass.
On top of this there are a number of other benefits to reforestation:
Supporting biodiversity and sustainable habitats for a variety of wildlife and plants.
Fruit trees provide products that can be used and sold
Reforestation also provide opportunities for the local economy and providing new income streams and employment
Tree roots helps stabilise soil and minimise risk of landslides
Plus who doesn’t love trees - I personally love an autumnal walk in a beautiful forest

What is Just Plain Charming’s impact so far?
This is a new venture so the impact is currently small but we all have to start somewhere. It is something will develop over time and is something you can check at any time.
