Turning your dreams into reality is what Just Plain Charming is all about! Whether you have an exciting idea in mind or are just starting to explore, this guide will walk you through the exciting world of commissioned pieces.

Step 1 - Let's Chat!

The adventure begins with a friendly chat.  We can connect via email, social media, or through the handy enquiry form on my website (located on the Commissions Page).  There's no need to have everything figured out yet - a rough concept or some inspiration pics are a great starting point.  I'm here to guide you through the process and answer any questions you might have.

Unsure what to write?  No worries!  We can also hop on a quick video consultation or even arrange an in-person chat at my home (if you're local!).  There's no pressure to commit until you're absolutely comfortable moving forward.

Step 2 - Mock Up Magic!

Once we're on the same page and you're ready to take the next step, I'll whip up some sketches or mock designs to bring your vision to life. This will give you an opportunity to start considering all the elements of the design and a chance to provide feedback. I should be able to provide a rough idea of costs here.

This is where the magic happens and is a fun and collaborative part of the process, it may take some time to finalise the details to get it right so patience is key.

Step 3 - Making it Official

With a finalised mock design in hand, I’ll send over a commission agreement that outlines everything - cost, timeline, and all the exciting details. There will also be an option to add some additional extras, like hallmarking or engraving on your jewellery pieces. At this point, a 50% deposit will be required to secure your order and allow me to source the perfect materials for your creation.

Step 4 - Crafting Your Treasure

With everything prepped and ready, the crafting begins! I'll keep you updated on the progress, and you're always welcome to reach out if you have any questions. Throughout this stage, I might touch base to confirm details like metal finishes or the perfect glaze for your ceramic piece.

Step 5 - The Big Reveal!

Once your piece is complete, I'll send you photos to make sure it meets (and hopefully exceeds) your expectations. After finalising any tweaks and settling the remaining balance, your treasure will be lovingly packaged and shipped off to you via special delivery.

Commissioning a piece from Just Plain Charming is an investment in handcrafted beauty and a unique expression of yourself. By following these steps and embracing the creative journey together, we can create a cherished treasure that will bring you joy for years to come.

FAQs

How long do commissions take?

The timeframe can vary depending on the complexity of the piece, current workload, and materials needed. Generally, it takes between 1-3 months to complete the entire process. Keep in mind that winter can slow things down a bit for ceramics due to drying times. If you have a shorter deadline in mind, feel free to reach out and I'll let you know if it's feasible.
